The 2nd Stage

		The philosophy behind the Millennium Research for Advanced Information Technology (MIRAI) R&D project involves 3 major points:
1.		R&D themes which should be focused on to meet technology requirements based on projected trends in semiconductor technology are chosen and a systematic framework using a scientific approach is to be constructed. Through this process, a solid background in precompetitive technology development is established to ensure ongoing growth in the semiconductor industry.
2.		The research environment enables researchers from industry, government and academia to create and develop new concepts and ideas through mutual interaction. The project provides a place for developing superior researchers able to conduct world-class R&D with a strong will and a sense of responsibility.
3.		Researchers and engineers from different areas of industry, government and academia will conduct high-level joint research using their unique gifts and capabilities depending on original organization, thereby timely achieving major technological breakthroughs contributing to the ongoing growth of the semiconductor industry.
